Since 2009, Trak Racer has been pioneering the Sim Racing industry with great and well-designed products. In recent years, extruded aluminum has entered the sim racing space due to advantages such as the strength, expandability and minimal installation costs for the manufacturer compared to other simulators in the market such as the Trak Racer RS6 and TR8.
Disadvantages of this type of simulator are extra setup time and more industrial aesthetics.
Extruded aluminum is a fixed cross-section of aluminum, parts of which have been “removed” along its length, also known as extrusions. This allows for the connection of multiple separate pieces of extruded aluminum that can be used to build simple to very complex structures using a nut that slides into the extrusion and is secured with a screw. 80/20 is a registered trademark of extruded aluminum (among many others) that is often interchanged with the generic term “extruded aluminum”. Due to its versatility and expandability, extruded aluminum is often used to make racing simulators. The most common type of extrusion used for sim rigs is “t-slot extruded aluminum”. It has a T-shaped extrusion (usually on all sides).
