MOZA R16 Ultra vs R21 Ultra vs R25 Ultra: Torque, True Torque and the +2 Nm Beta
The MOZA Ultra family gives sim racers three high-torque direct drive choices: the MOZA R16 Ultra 16 Nm, MOZA R21 Ultra 21 Nm and MOZA R25 Ultra True Torque 25 Nm. Their current published ratings are 16, 21 and 25 Nm respectively. In September 2026, MOZA also invited owners to test a proposed software-based 2 Nm torque increase. Below we separate the specifications available today from the limited beta.

R16 Ultra: 16 Nm in a compact base
The MOZA R16 Ultra 16 Nm offers a flat-wire direct drive motor designed to minimize cogging, a 21-bit magnetic encoder and 16 Nm of sustained torque according to MOZA's product information. It is an option for drivers moving from a midrange base to a stronger fixed cockpit without choosing the highest-torque model. MOZA also lists bottom, front and side mounting options, so check the mounting hardware required by your rig.

R21 Ultra: 21 Nm for more force-feedback headroom
The MOZA R21 Ultra 21 Nm moves to 21 Nm of sustained output. MOZA describes a zero-cogging flat-wire motor and a 21-bit magnetic encoder. Extra headroom can help preserve stronger force-feedback effects without setting the base to maximum for every session. The amount you actually feel depends on your game, wheel, cockpit and force-feedback tuning.

R25 Ultra True Torque: 25 Nm and real-time torque sensing
The MOZA R25 Ultra True Torque 25 Nm is the flagship of these three models, rated at 25 Nm sustained torque. Its main distinction from the R21 Ultra is the built-in True Torque sensor: MOZA says it measures actual output at up to 2 kHz with 0.1% sampling accuracy. This makes the R25 relevant to experienced drivers looking for both maximum headroom and direct torque measurement. Plan for a rigid cockpit and sensible force-feedback limits.

What is the MOZA +2 Nm beta?
A September 2026 beta invitation for existing Ultra owners, reported on 19 September, described a proposed increase of 2 Nm per wheelbase: R16 Ultra 16 → 18 Nm, R21 Ultra 21 → 23 Nm and R25 Ultra 25 → 27 Nm. It concerns a software-controlled test with selected participants; it does not change the standard advertised torque of a new wheelbase. An extra 2 Nm would chiefly add force-feedback headroom if your current settings approach the torque ceiling. It does not automatically improve lap times or make every effect more detailed.
View the MOZA Ultra torque beta application form (opens in a new tab). Applications were reported open from 18 to 24 September 2026, so that window has passed. The form may now be closed. MOZA has not confirmed a general release date or final pricing for the torque increase in the information available for this article. Check MOZA's current official channels before relying on any beta access or future output figure.
For the standard, current hardware details, see MOZA's R16 Ultra, R21 Ultra and R25 Ultra information pages.
Which Ultra wheelbase should you choose?
- Choose R16 Ultra when you want a strong 16 Nm base in a compact setup and do not need the highest torque ceiling.
- Choose R21 Ultra when you want 21 Nm sustained torque and more adjustment headroom for a rigid cockpit.
- Choose R25 Ultra when its 25 Nm output and built-in True Torque sensing match your high-end rig and priorities.
Buy on the basis of the 16, 21 or 25 Nm specifications currently published. Treat the beta as a potential future option rather than a guaranteed feature.
Frequently asked questions
Does the R16 Ultra already produce 18 Nm?
No. The standard published rating is 16 Nm. The proposed 18 Nm figure belongs to the limited +2 Nm beta test.
Is the R21 Ultra the same as the older R21 V2?
No. This article refers specifically to the R21 Ultra. Check the exact product name and handle before comparing versions.
What makes the R25 Ultra different from the R21 Ultra?
In addition to 25 versus 21 Nm sustained torque, the R25 Ultra has a built-in real-time torque sensor. MOZA identifies that sensor as an R25-specific feature.
Can I still apply for the +2 Nm beta?
The reported 18–24 September 2026 application window has ended. The beta application page is linked for reference; check MOZA for any new testing or public-release announcement.
